When to redesign your website

Innovation and reinvention are two things that are constant in every business. Since the business world is essentially a warzone of different products and services, it’s important to always update your arsenal every now and thento survive.

In the world of web design, businesses’ armaments are their marketing materials, specifically their websites. And like any type of weaponry, websites should also be redesigned and kept updated. But in the fast-paced world of business and marketing when should businesses redesign their website? Here are 5 instances:

1. When you’re becoming outdated.

As mentioned above, business is about innovation and reinvention. Therefore, it shouldn’t be much of a shock if your competitors are just as quick to pick up the latest marketing trends as you are. If you think you’re getting left behind either by the trend, or worse by your competitors, then maybe it’s time for a change.

Show your customers that you’re sensitive to trends. That way, you’re more likely to convert your customers while simultaneously getting ahead in the marketing competition.

2. When you have an overwhelming homepage.

A website is supposed to carry the identity of the entire brand and contain all the information that customers need to know. However, it’s also important to keep the home page clear of long paragraphs and unnecessary images.

Consider putting the excess paragraphs on the other pages. Focus on showing why you’re unique from your competitors to capture your site visitors. It would be great if you can readily make the changes in just one go. But if you can’t, then maybe it’s time to reorganize and redesign the website.

3. If your website is unresponsive.

Statista predicted that by 2017, mobile phone users will reach 4.77 billion—that’s more than half of the world population! With the growing number of mobile phone users, it will undoubtedly be a great disadvantage if your website doesn’t respond to smaller screen sizes. In this era of digital marketing and social media, being responsive is no longer an option- it’s a need.

4. If you have an incredibly slow website.

Slow page loading due to the internet connection is understandable and totally out of your control as a business owner. But if your website ceases to load within a few seconds because of internal issues, that could be a serious problem.

Having a website that takes forever to load doesn’t just decrease the chance of customer conversion, it also hinders the possibility of ranking better in search engines.

5. If you need to update content-wise.

Content is staple for marketing—whether it’s visual or text. If your current website layout doesn’t let you update or post new innovative contents, then it’s time to reconnect with your trusted web developer.

Generally, to redesign a website means to reinvent your brand. Whether it’s fueled by an updated marketing plan or if you just really want a more interactive web page, redesigning your website is a sign that your business is growing and you’re taking steps to respond to its changing needs. If you’re guilty of any of the reasons above, then you know what to do.
